Bowen Collins & Associates completed Preliminary Planning, Design and Construction Management for the new Jordan Basin Water Reclamation Facility, owned and operated by the South Valley Sewer District. Planning for the new facility began in 2002. During the planning stages Bowen Collins & Associated assisted the client in the evaluation and permitting process for several sites, and ultimately obtaining regulatory, local and public approval for a 15.0 MGD Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) facility, expandable to 30 MGD, on the banks of the Jordan River in Riverton, Utah. The facility design includes an Influent Pump Station, Headworks Building, Process Basins and MBR Buildings, UV Disinfection Building and Solids Dewatering Building. In addition, an Administration Building and Maintenance Building were included with designs that qualified for LEED certification as “Certified” structures. Design services included the 50 MGD (peak) South Jordan Pump Station and associated 3-mile long, 42” diameter dual force main along the Jordan River to bring additional influent flows to the facility. A joint venture of PCL and Alder Construction began construction on the new facility in August 2009 and is slated to begin start-up procedures in August 2011 with substantial completion following in April 2012. During construction, Bowen Collins & Associates is providing on-site, full-time construction management services help ensure that South Valley Sewer District receives a quality facility.
