Construction Manager – Draper, Utah

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Bowen Collins & Associates has an immediate opening for a full-time position in Construction Management in Draper, Utah. The applicant will be responsible for managing and observing construction projects to ensure that projects meet the requirements of the project documents.

JOB TYPE: Full-time

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years related job experience in Engineering or Construction.
  • Special inspection certifications or the ability to obtain certifications within six months of hire. Professional and effective in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent computer experience in preparing and organizing project documentation.
  • Manage construction projects to ensure compliance with the project documents.
  • Coordinate review of technical submittals, request for information/interpretation, work change directives, track project changes, and produce documentation for change orders.
  • Oversee contractor’s compliance with permitting and other project requirements.
  • Document, photograph and report the quality of construction workmanship on the project site. Witness and record the progress of the contractor’s schedule. Interface with the general contractor and the project team as the project owner’s representative.
  • Lead coordination meetings with clients, general contractors, subconsultants, and other government agencies.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Candidate must understand various types of construction trades and be able to perform construction management of municipal, heavy civil, commercial, and utility projects. Candidate shall be attentive of project schedules and be vigilant of the work being performed. Candidate must observe the work intently, note items that do not appear in compliance, and promptly notify the project superintendent and the engineering project manager. Candidate must have a good understanding of industrial, commercial, and municipal processes. Applicant must be willing to attend continuing education courses and obtain necessary certifications. Additionally, the applicant must be physically able to negotiate safely around a project site and observe items in trenches, on rough terrain, and on high scaffolding.

Power Distribution Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and manage major projects such as new equipment installation, upgrades, etc.
Analyze project requirements, identify and address design parameters, review engineering challenges and ensure solutions are timely and within budget.
Work closely with other engineering disciplines, vendors, local utility company, consultants, corporate personnel, and manage external contractors on installations and maintenance.
Familiarity with electrical safety standards such as NFPA 70E; this includes arc flash studies, providing technical guidance on electrical safe work practices, and training personnel on electrical safety. Creating design specifications and complete all needed documentation. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
Design and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, including experience with electrical distribution equipment such as switchgear, distribution transformers, protective relays, motor control centers, motors, adjustable speed drives, and industrial lighting.
Familiarity with PLC programming and energy monitoring software.
Develop and administer site electrical practices, procedures, and preventative maintenance and reliability programs.
Give technical guidance on electrical design and installation for maintenance and production equipment capital projects.

JOB TYPE: Full-time

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Project assignments may include planning, designing, materials procurement, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting). Assist with engineering studies and investigations and in preparation of oral and written reports.
Electrical, software design for automation and safety systems. Maintain project scope/schedule and identify scope creep.
Create documentation such as training documents, program backup, network diagrams, electrical drawings, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • PE license in Utah or the ability to obtain such within six months of hire.
  • 5 + years related job experience.
  • Designing electrical control system knowledge for automated equipment.
  • Understanding of relevant electrical requirements and machine safety standards.
  • Strong technically hands-on oriented engineer with clearly demonstrated experience and a track record of deploying modern power systems.
  • Understanding of industry trends, direction and standards that guide new technology offerings, and uses technology and market intelligence to provide strategic recommendations on initiatives to achieve business objectives.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.

Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer/Environmental Planner

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an environmental planner, you will have the opportunity to work under the direction of a Senior Landscape Architect, environmental scientists and engineers on projects related to environmental document preparation, technical writing, and design, and you will be expected to:

JOB TYPE: Full or Part-Time

EDUCATION: A master’s or bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Bioregional Planning, Environmental Planning or a closely related field is desired.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Develop plans that include plantings plans, site plans as well as illustrations/renderings, environmental documents, environmental permit applications and field data sheets
  • Knowledge and ability to work in AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, SketchUp, Lumion, Microsoft Suite.
  • Design and drawing skills.
  • Experience completing field work such as wetland delineations and environmental clearances.
  • Strong understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Conduct routine site evaluations, field work, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for your discipline
  • Assist in identifying issues and problem solving, including reviewing regulations as appropriate
  • Stay current with the primary technical literature for your degreed discipline
  • Organize and present data and illustrations suitable for reports and client presentations
  • Write clear and concise technical reports and technical memoranda
  • Assist with client marketing efforts and proposal development, as directed
  • Perform all work in accordance with standard company and client Health & Safety protocols
  • Ensure that all your work is reviewed before it is delivered in draft of final.
  • Strong leadership skills.
