Structural Project Engineer

The majority of these projects will be associated with water and wastewater infrastructure and require the application of general engineering principles to highly indeterminate structures. Projects also include some bridge applications for standard AASHTO vehicles and special equipment. Common materials consist of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber. Most assignments will require a working knowledge of IBC, ACI, ASCE 7, AWWA, and AASHTO design codes as applicable to potable water and wastewater treatment and storage, storm water facilities, large equipment foundations, industrial and maintenance buildings, and office facilities. Familiarity with design in high-seismic conditions is essential. Should be familiar with software currently being used in this effort, which includes Excel, Staad Pro, RAM, Enercalc, AutoCAD, and LEAP applications. Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain and coordinate structural requirements with non-structural members of a project team, including drafting personnel and working under general supervision.

Water Resources/Drainage Engineer

The successful candidate for this position should have the following minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
Knowledge of the water resources industry and technology trends, including all aspects of water resource systems from studies through construction. 4-6 years of experience.
Understanding of hydraulics and hydrology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be capable of working efficiently with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal staff.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Proficiency with a variety of hydraulic and hydrologic computer modeling programs.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station preferred and is a plus.

Power Distribution Engineer


Design and manage major projects such as new equipment installation, upgrades, etc.
Analyze project requirements, identify and address design parameters, review engineering challenges and ensure solutions are timely and within budget.
Work closely with other engineering disciplines, vendors, local utility company, consultants, corporate personnel, and manage external contractors on installations and maintenance.
Familiarity with electrical safety standards such as NFPA 70E; this includes arc flash studies, providing technical guidance on electrical safe work practices, and training personnel on electrical safety. Creating design specifications and complete all needed documentation. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
Design and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, including experience with electrical distribution equipment such as switchgear, distribution transformers, protective relays, motor control centers, motors, adjustable speed drives, and industrial lighting.
Familiarity with PLC programming and energy monitoring software.
Develop and administer site electrical practices, procedures, and preventative maintenance and reliability programs.
Give technical guidance on electrical design and installation for maintenance and production equipment capital projects.

Project Management:

Project assignments may include planning, designing, materials procurement, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting). Assist with engineering studies and investigations and in preparation of oral and written reports.
Electrical, software design for automation and safety systems. Maintain project scope/schedule and identify scope creep.
Create documentation such as training documents, program backup, network diagrams, electrical drawings, etc.

Environmental Planner (2-5 years experience)

Bowen Collins & Associates is currently seeking a full-time environmental planner to join our team in our Draper, Utah office. As an environmental planner, you will have the opportunity to work under the direction of a Senior Landscape Architect, environmental scientists and engineers on projects related to environmental document preparation, technical writing, and design, and you will be expected to:

Job Description:

Conduct routine site evaluations, field work, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for your discipline.
Assist in identifying issues and problem solving, including reviewing regulations as appropriate.
Utilize spreadsheets and various computer software programs related to your discipline, including Land FX, CAD, Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office.
Stay current with the primary technical literature for your degreed discipline.
Organize and present data and illustrations suitable for reports and client presentations.
Write clear and concise technical reports and technical memoranda.
Develop plans that include plantings plans, site plans as well as illustrations/renderings, environmental documents, environmental permit applications and field data sheets.
Assist with client marketing efforts and proposal development, as directed.
Perform all work in accordance with standard company and client Health & Safety protocols.

A master’s or bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Bioregional Planning, Environmental Planning or a closely related field is desired.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, SketchUp, Lumion, Microsoft Suite.
Design and drawing skills.
Experience completing field work such as wetland delineations and environmental clearances.
Strong understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act.
